Ross Street

This Victorian house in Cambridge was doubled in size with a new master bedroom, bathrooms and utility room and a new open plan living room and kitchen on the ground floor with large glazed opening to courtyard and rear garden. The new rear elevation is detailed with distinctive areas of hit and miss brickwork for privacy, security, natural ventilation and shading to the south facing elevation. New stone kitchen and underfloor heating with hardwood flooring throughout and new lighting system has transformed the old house to a modern functional and light and warm space for modern living.

The design process involved looking at different options by making models – the purpose being to relate the new extension to the existing surrounding houses.
